How to work Cold Email Strategies

Salespeople are often searching online for new cold email strategies as they are fighting for attention in the overcrowded inbox. Cold email strategies that are effective today become quickly dated tomorrow. The trend has been that once someone finds cold email strategies or templates that work, others choose to use (and overuse) it, as opposed to creating their own.
The challenge here is that it’s getting to a point where everyone is getting the same email. Which means, when the prospect receives it, it demonstrates that this wasn’t meant for them specifically, but to a wide mass audience. How can they feel compelled to respond if this cold email wasn’t specifically written for them? They start to think... “I bet you say that to all the girls!” To create a cold email strategy that works, think about starting completely from scratch. Look at email as just channel to contact them, not a magic template or some form of wizardry that magically makes people want to do business with you. If you think of it from the perspective of email simply being a platform to deliver a message, then you can focus on how you would communicate with an individual in a way that will provoke thought and inspire action.

Cold Email Strategies That Work

Start with one individual in mind. This may be your best client or someone you’d love to do business with. Think about what they want to talk about, think about what they are talking about already. What problems do they have, what answers are they searching for? In what way can you add the most value to that specific individual?
With that in mind, start writing your email. Sounds simple? Of course, it is. In fact, not only do people make it more complex than they have to, but their emails aren’t even effective. Now there are some basic rules you want to comply with when creating your cold email strategy:

· Keep it brief
· Get to the point early
· Speak on a topic that is compelling for them
· Create an offer that they can’t refuse (something in exchange for their time)
· Don’t ‘sell’ your product or service, sell the value you are offering for a response

Next step: Simply build a list of people that are similar to the original person you wrote this for. This is important because most people do this backwards. They start with compiling a list and their cold email strategy is to write a message that speaks to the entire list at once. But the problem is when you try to appeal to everyone, you must speak in a way that is so generic, you won’t actually appeal to anyone!
